IPMAT Indore 2024

IPMAT Indore 2024 was conducted by IIM Indore on 23 May 2024 (2pm - 4pm). There were 15 SA, 30 MCQ and 45 VA questions. Each section was of 40 minutes.

3.41% students were called for interview:

As per IIM Indore's RTI: 20,748 aspirants secured a positive score in each of the sections with 709 (3.41%) students getting an interview call.

Quants—Easy SA section, hard MCQ section, hardest DILR set:

The short-answer (SA) section was easy: a couple of questions were mentally solvable. A surprise 3-set mean-median-mode question was tested. The quants multiple-choice section (MCQ) was hard, featuring a difficult DILR set and an incorrect P&C question.

We saw 12 algebra questions but only 1 from number systems. There were 4 logarithm questions and 4 permutation/combinations questions.

Verbal Ability—Moderate but lengthy:

The verbal ability (VA) section was lengthy, time-management was key, especially with the 553-word passage on anxiety.

IIM Rohtak doesn't release the past year papers (anymore).

IPMAT Rohtak 2024 was conducted on 18 May 2024 (9am - 11am). There were 3 sections (QA, VA, LR) with 40 questions each. The exam had no sectional time limits.

6.19% students were called for interview:

As per IIM Rohtak's RTI: 13,414 students wrote the test with 831 getting an interview call. IPMAT Rohtak cutoffs dropped by ~25%, highlighting the exam's unpredictable nature.

Quants—Easiest and filled with arithmetic:

As per aspirants, the quantitative ability (QA) section was the easiest of the 3 sections. The section was primarily composed of questions from arithmetic (majorly consisting SI/CI, TSD, T&W questions), probability and geometry.

Verbal—Tricky but straightforward RCs:

The verbal ability (VA) section was slightly tricky. It consisted of a mix of long fill in the blank questions, parajumbles and interpretation of word usages in short passages. The RCs were easy with straightforward questions.

Logical Reasoning—Hard and extremely lengthy:

The logical reasoning (LR) section was easy though time-consuming. A variety of topics were tested: 1 particular LR set of 3 questions was tedious, though doable. There were no data interpretation (DI) questions.

JIPMAT 2024

JIPMAT 2024 was conducted by NTA on 6 June 2024 (3 pm - 5:30 pm) for admission into IPM at IIM Jammu (140 seats) and IIM Bodh Gaya (120 seats). 10,115 candidates appeared for the examination.

Tougher than JIPMAT 2023:

The paper was more challenging with new patterns. Notable inclusions were a grammar-based 'match the columns' and a punctuation question. The cutoffs were also the lowest among the past 4 years (regardless of the increased competition).

Quants—Easy to moderate:

Geometry (8 questions) was tested more than arithmetic (7 questions). There were 3 questions where aspirants had to choose the correct statements.

Logical Reasoning—Moderate:

Featured questions on 'reasoning & assertion', data visualization—pie charts and tabular data demanding calculations. Problems were lengthy but straightforward.

Verbal Ability—Easy to moderate, but lengthy:

Two RCs were given, one tough passage featuring Baconian theory. Questions on grammar and vocabulary stood out—like testing the synonym of 'hackneyed'.

Since IPMAT Indore 2022, there have been 45 questions in the Verbal Ability section (time-limit: 40 minutes).

Each section has a time limit of 40 minutes. You can't switch sections in between the exam.

Unlike board exams, each question (regardless of difficulty) carries the same marks in IPMAT Indore. You must identify and answer the easy questions first. This is developed by attempting mocks.

IPMAT Indore 2025 will be conducted on May 12, 2025 (2pm to 4pm).

The difficulty level varies across sections and years. For example, the short-answer (quants) cutoff was 12 marks in 2023, but 24 marks in 2024.

Easy questions lead to higher cutoffs, while hard questions result in lower cutoffs.

IPMAT Indore 2024's MCQ (quants) section had 8 easy, 9 medium, and 13 hard questions. The cutoff was 35 marks, indicating that solving all easy questions would have cleared the cutoff.

The real challenge in IPMAT lies in question selection under a strict time limit. Attempting hard questions without clearing easy and medium ones can lower your overall score.
