In a family, each daughter has the same number of brothers as she has sisters and each son has twice as many sisters as he has brothers. How many sons are there in the family?

Correct Option: 2
According tp the question, if there are xx brothers, there are x+1x+1 sisters. [(x+1)[(x+1) sisters because when we pick one daughter, (x+11)(x+1-1) will be the case where she has the same number of sisters and brothers, hope it makes sense.]]
And each son has twice has many sisters as he has brothers, so for xx brothers, there are 2(x1)2(x-1) sisters.
Equating these cases, we get \newline x+1=2(x1)x+1=2(x-1)
x+1=2x2x+1=2x-2
x=3x=3
Hence, there are 3 sons in the family.
